Bielsa on the decision to give the captaincy to Kiko Casilla last night: "His teammates felt he deserved to be captain & we have to listen to these messages."

He added: “Surely those who judge Kiko ignore a lot of the things his teammates see in him. So you’re saying that I should have contemplated whether to pick Kiko as captain that either I take the opinions of the fans or of the players.” (cont)

Bielsa: “You can’t deny that the captain not only represents his teammates but he also represents the club. So that means he can’t limit himself to just what the players’ wishes were. What is also important that you guys may not know is ...” (cont)

Bielsa: “... what percentage of the fan base actually didn’t want Kiko as captain because the opinion of the masses should always be heard. And, of course, we also value the conduct of Kiko as only we can judge as we are part of the group.” #lufc
