My students are stressed and depressed, it’s all over their face, the comments they make.. they do a mental health check in that only I see and 90% are either sad, discouraged, upset or annoyed everyday. Asking me “when is the Covid 19 going to be over”... sweetie I don’t know..
The online kids want to be in the classroom SO BAD, because learning on the computer, alone, stuck at home, no one on one help, frustrates them. While the in school students are literally scared to be there and struggle adjusting to the new environment.
I’ve never seen students just really hate a situation so much. And that displaced emotion is causing them to do things that are out of character. Because they feel like they have no control over the situation. Helpless.
Same goes for the teachers. STRESSED AND DEPRESSED. Emphasis on both. Over worked, no PPE, none of the promised things. Working online and in person students simultaneously, Ill equipped and the equipment we have barely works, we are no IT specialists.
Half of class is running about fixing computer issues, cant get through the lesson properly, can’t social distance from the children but no ppe resources to keep us safe. Students added to or switch out of classes daily, we just have to “go with the flow”. Everyone is confused.
