It's really interesting watching cis people whip themselves up into hysteria over the notion of transgender people existing and not being hidden and then jump to the conclusion that it's trans folks who are sensitive, not them.
Look, there are plenty of really valid debates to have around where trans folks fit into society, but what's maddening to me is how cis people will break their backs trying to make trans folks lives more challenging and have the audacity to be mad as up not just taking it.
We still live in a time where people think I should use the men's restroom because cis people believe that I'm similar to a cis man putting on women's clothing and barging into the women's restroom to rape women and children. It's bonkers, but that's a real argument.
And JK Rowling is WRITING A BOOK WITH THAT VERY STORY.

Meanwhile, I've used the women's restroom for over a decade and it's literally the most pedestrian, non controversial thing I do.
Cis people will take something we all do like taking a shit and perverse it into this strange plan to rape and abuse by virtue of our genders and THEN have the audacity to say that trans people make too big of a deal about these things and are looking to be offended.
I dunno if this sinks in for cis folks, but imagine being accused of meditating rape every time you want to use the restroom outside of your own home. That's where we're still at. But trans people are sensitive. Give me a break.
I'm tired of cis people acting like hating trans folks is some brave, unique, new thing that no one's talking about when it's one of the most universally agreed upon biases that knows no political line.
I'm not a jk rowling fan and never really was. I enjoyed harry potter and thought hagrid was a fun character. i'm not heart broken over this and I think people can believe what they believe but I wish these people got perspective. I really wish they saw things clearly.
JK Rowling has overwhelming support. She will continue to be successful and I'm not calling for her cancellation by any means.
But I will point out that she will continue to have success despite being a brazen transphobe because most people care enough about trans people to withdraw support. Most people agree with her and her framing of trans folks.
This is the world we live in and I'm glad some of you are learning that now.
Oh also, just wanted to tag this onto the end-

If you want transgender people to complain less, maybe stop putting so much of your energy into fucking with them constantly. People always point at suicide statistics like it's proof of why being transgender is wrong...
But they totally ignore that being transgender in a world that works so hard to exclude us is incredibly alienating and hard. It becomes super hard to envision a happy future for yourself when everything around you is fighting against your existence.
I don't really do hero worship, but imagine all the trans kids who found some sort of solace in Harry Potter and probably looked to Hagrid as some sort of warm and accepting figure that reflected the kind of paternal image they wanted who now feel like even hagrid hates them.
Now, I'm not gonna talk about how it's really weird that people make this fucking book their personality trait because this doesn't seem like the right time, but still,
people do it and it wouldn't have cost JK Rowling anything to not make this the hill she's going to die on, but she did.
I do feel sorry for the trans folks who've felt alienated by this even more so.
