Q. Why is #QuietStreets happening so quickly?

It is part of an emergency response to the #COVID19 crisis.
The need for social distancing is likely to last until at least the end of 2020.
People continue to avoid public transport, which means more of us using cars.

Q. Why haven& #39;t we been told about this earlier?

We would normally introduce schemes like this over several months or even years, and invite residents to help design them by sharing views, ideas & experiences, but we have had to act now to respond to #COVID19...

3/
National Government has instructed Local Authorities to reallocate road space for significantly increased numbers of cyclists & pedestrians...

4/
The work is funded as part of @TfL& #39;s response to #COVID19 & there are strict guidelines and timelines we have to follow to ensure residents can travel in a socially distanced way as we recover from the pandemic...

5/
This is why we have launched #QuietStreets now as a temporary trial, and are asking for your feedback while the trial continues.

6/
Q. Can I suggest changes?

We know that the temporary scheme won& #39;t get everything right & that you will have ideas on how to improve things. ...and once the scheme has been in place for 3 months, we will ask for your feedback again.
