Roswaal has been so interesting so far! Here is a thread about some of my thoughts pertaining to the visuals and dialogue during Roswaal's scene in Re:Zero season 2 episode 11! Definitely continue to read this if you're interested in reading what I have to say!

Roswaal leads the conversation, the bottom half of his head consumes the frame, showing his power. The dutch angle that follows which leads into a similar close-up shot of his head creates a sense of uneasiness and draws attention to the fact that Roswaal is still in control.

The characters look down on Roswaal, but Roswaal is very much calm and remains in the center of the frame. Him being in the middle of the shot is connected to the idea of him being the "center of attention", and despite this, he remains composed and thus menacing.

This is where everything shifts! Roswaal is framed as above both Ram and Garfiel, towering over them to assert his dominance while the first shot highlights his smile . Despite killing someone seemingly close to him, he does this with a smile, showing his twistedness.

I just want to go deeper into this! Roswaal is the type of person to view people as chess pieces rather than actual humans. Ram, though seen as important to him in s1, is merely a chess piece that he can easily dispose of, hence why he looks down on her like this as he kills her.

I think it's very telling how Roswaal beats those who are below him with his feet. Everyone are just pawns to Roswaal, beneath him, and can be manipulated for his own gain. He's literally stepping on top of people, even killing Garfiel with just a kick.

Subaru has absolutely no control here. Roswaal cuts off Subaru's dialogue and completes his sentence to both show how he has power over the conversation and understands what's going through the minds of other people. The extreme close-up of the eyes show how he's very perceptive.

I LOVE THIS! Roswaal, like Daphne, only needs shots focused on his mouth in order to convey how menacing he is. The fact that he still retains his smile after alluding to the fact he knows about Subaru's abilities makes us fear Roswaal's smile even more. His smile is so haunting!

I don't think I need to explain more. Roswaal is mostly either framed above someone, or encompasses most of the frame during this scene. No matter where he is, he's always a force to be reckoned with that'll always overpower Subaru.

Once again, Roswaal uses his feet to inflict pain, this time he stomps on Subaru and thus establish that Subaru is beneath him. The close-up shot on Roswaal's feet even highlights, from Subaru's perspective, how he's completely below Roswaal.

Roswaal's mind is operating on such a different level that I can't even fathom how he reached this point. What an absolutely amazing, intriguing character. I just can't even begin to understand Roswaal's calm insanity .__.

All I can just say here is WTF. How twisted is this man's mind???

Once again, as an anime-only, WTF! Is he talking about casting away his humanity??? I am so curious about Roswaal!
