My heart goes out to the family of Dr Abdullay Munshi who met his death in a violent manner.

Sadly he became known as a South African version of Dr Death and nothing could be further from the truth.

An anaesthetist who was not only highly competent but also very senior.
He would dope even for the most junior surgeons and was a humble and gentle human being.

After the arrest he was never reluctant to present himself to scrutiny by peers on his role in that case.

He was sad to have lost a patient in that manner.
There was communication to stop colleagues from working with him but all surgeons he has worked with continued to work with him.

They had worked with him for many years and were clear on his competency.
It is tragedy that his life would end in this violent manner.

We are saddened as those who knew him.

We cannot imagine the pain of his family.
