*small lil thread*
So I’ve been getting a lot of questions on why we aren’t giving our new baby a Hawaiian middle name like Avayah and truth is we just didn’t lol
So Avayah has my middle namehttps://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="👉🏼" title="Rückhand Zeigefinger nach rechts (mittelheller Hautton)" aria-label="Emoji: Rückhand Zeigefinger nach rechts (mittelheller Hautton)"> Makeala Leilanihttps://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="👉🏼" title="Rückhand Zeigefinger nach rechts (mittelheller Hautton)" aria-label="Emoji: Rückhand Zeigefinger nach rechts (mittelheller Hautton)">Avayah Leilani. As my first born I wanted her to have something of mine without naming her Makeala lmao I also got the middle name from my God mother.
When we came up with Aylah’s(new baby) name, it just came out so fluent we didn’t want to add to it or change it up. It already holds so much meaning.
With that being said, Hawaiian names also hold so much meaning and power. You can’t just go around giving your child any ol given name.
“Hawaiian names might tell the place and conditions of birth, reveal family lineage, an ancestor’s occupation, and particular mana(power).”
“Inoa might also define social distinctions…. Whatever the meaning behind the inoa(name)… the name itself had mana; the name itself might bear a kapu(forbidden/sacred). Both could play a part in shaping the character, personality – even the fate and fortunes – of the bearer!”
I hope this was helpful https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="❤️" title="Rotes Herz" aria-label="Emoji: Rotes Herz">
