Here’s where I disagree with folks on the TL when it comes to Hogwarts Legacy: that people who have given other games with bad ideologies or labor practices blowies “don’t get to be against” this game. On the contrary! Welcome! Just know that you’re crossing the rubicon here.

You don’t get to be like “hmmm this game seems ideologically questionable” or “hmmmmmm this game seems to have been made under questionable conditions” about a title and then when it comes out act like you came repeatedly while playing it again. You don’t get to do that anymore.

If your position isn’t “I’m not going to reward game studios that make mean-spirited/ignorant/bigoted games or make games under shit conditions,” you’ve got some bad politics imo, but that is a thing you need to search your own soul over. I’m not your parent.

If you’re a game critic or a journalist, you are not part of a studio’s marketing plan, no matter how much they want you to be. It’s time to build up some fortitude. This game, the wizard poop game, is a no-brainer. Use this to build yourself up for the next real challenge.

Assuming the next few months aren’t filled with more pressing matters, like staying alive under surging fascism.
