I first became aware of the situation at UPDS when I received a dm in late July from an amazing Californian Resister JJ ( @mssunshine132).
She said she was concerned that there was an attempt to steal the election by dismantling much of what USPS does for the mail in ballots. She even contacted her local and state officials about possible solutions.

Within 3 days the story broke. We already knew that a large
large donor to the Presidents campaign was appointed as postmaster and that there was a reduction of overtime for staff but on Aug 3rd, the President announced that he would be fighting mail-in ballots because of likely voter fraud. Within a week pictures showed up of mailboxes
being picked up or locked so you couldn’t use them. We also heard of the removal of sorting machines slowing down the ability for delivery. Mail that people depend on continues to be delayed days and even weeks. Then came the protests, the anger of Americans and the hearings.
There were promises made. Some promises were kept but we need to step back and look at the whole situation.

According to the President, the USPS needs to operate as a business and not at a loss. That’s ironic though because he is an expert at operating businesses at a loss.
I digress, that’s a different story. Trump claims the decision to appoint Louis DeJoy as new postmaster was because DeJoy ran number of business well. DeJoy still has an interest in some of those that are in direct competition with the post office.
We all know the history of the postal service and what it’s meant for the country. American’s need to decide if they want it to be a business or an essential service, like the fire department. Past administrations have considered the post office essential, even as recently as
March of this year.

Let’s look at some of the facts and fiction in relation to mail in voting. Contrary to what the President has stated there is no clear proof of any more than minimal voter fraud as it relates to mail in ballots. According to the Washington Post,
there is very little difference between mail-in and absentee ballots. The exception is that the President falsely claims there is voter fraud.

In Ohio, mail-in ballots have been used for well over a decade. According to Republican Lieutenant Governor, Jon Husted, there has
only been rare voter fraud. If you look at the data that the state provided in the 2012, 2014 and 2016 elections, a total of 336 cases were referred for prosecution. That’s out of 14.4 million ballots in those elections.

One argument made by the DeJoy is that it would take
take too long for processing if the voter waited to long before mailing the ballot. If it wasn’t for the cut in overtime, the removal of mailboxes and sorting machines this excuse might make sense. According to FEC, approximately 75% of the voting population will be able
to do some form of mail-in or absentee ballot voting. Because of the pandemic that is approximately 117 million ballots that in theory could go into the system at one time. The USPS should have contacted the states and informed them that due to the present pandemic it may take
take a longer then usual to process the mail. The USPS should ask the states to change the dates of when the ballots would be sent out and when they needed to be mailed back. But why do that, when you can cause another crises for the American people?
According to the good people at @ProjectLincoln it was the Republicans who has benefited from mail-in ballots in the past. Many older Americans used the method, and most of them voted Republican. Why is the President so set against the idea of mail-in ballots?
Is he really
concerned about the possibility of voter fraud? He knows that millions of Democrats would rather cast their vote by mail instead of waiting in line for potentially hours and possibly contracting the virus. He’s assuming the average educated Democratic voter will choose not
not to wait in that line. The President is also telling his supporters to vote twice, once by mail and then once in person.

Let’s switch topics for a minute, it will all make sense, I promise.

Let’s talk about the Nuremburg love-in rally (minus the dancers) oops, I mean
RNC Convention. No, I’m not going to talk about the President of the United States holding a political event at the ‘People’s house’. Of all the things he has done, I’m sure history will consider this a minor ‘misdemeanor’.

I want to talk about the hypocrisy of an evening
the RNC titled: Land of Heroes. This President claims to have always been there for the military but that doesn’t even come close to reality. Let’s start with the obvious one. Russia has put a bounty on the heads of the men and women serving in the US military. Numerous
reports by different sources claim the reports were in his daily briefings as far back as February of 2019 and yet he did nothing. Shortly after this, the President attempted to force G-7 members to once again include Russia. This idea was quickly shot down by the other six
six member governments. Despite what the group decided as a whole, the President invited Russia to attend the 2020 G7 meeting that was scheduled to be hosted by the United States. This was postponed/cancelled due to the Covid-19 Pandemic.

The President claims no one has ever
told him about the bounty and that if he had known, of course he would have acted. Then when asked if the bounty allegations were brought up during his recent conversation with the Russian Leader, , he claimed he didn’t raise it because he didn’t believe his own military
intelligence or the intelligence of other countries that were able to confirm the story. Up to this date he has yet to confront Russia.

In contrast, the week before you had VP Biden accepting the nomination of his party. The one time he appeared to react physically was when
he said that he would never allow a bounty on the men and women who served in the US Military. Why was there such a difference? Was empathy the difference? Yes, and if the election was to be decided by empathy alone the contest would be over. However, I think it is because
the Biden’s are a Blue-Ribbon Family. He sent a son to war. He waited for a call he prayed would never come. He spent nights worrying if he would ever see his son alive again. I honestly believe that the anger in his voice that night was not that of a Presidential candidate
but of a father who did something that no Trump has ever done. Trumps have not served in the military nor have they sent a child to war.
