gonna start crying as i think about atsumu blaming hinata and telling him to apologize for being the face of karasuno and letting tobio do whatever he wants. daichi’s “why? that ball was perfectly easy to hit” in response to kageyama’s apology was the first. and then followed by
nishinoya here ( asahi too but asahi’s was more quiet and less conversational exchange ). chrysalis phase is coming to a close, cracking open as kageyama who now has his own way of setting without modeling after oikawa or atsumu starts to emerge. closes eyes help
THE THING IS 223 NISHINOYA WAS ORIGINALLY UPSET but like in that one exchange they both stood on the same page and both sides just grew? I. CLENCHES FIST NO THOUGHTS JUST A LOT OF EMOTIONS.
chants look what you made me do @ atsu/kage
224: SO IT IS SHOUYOU’S FAULT. ATSUMU WAS RIGHT FOR MAKING HIM APOLOGIZE. also the entirety of karasuno going okay what’s next sort of feel i. the connections and how he needed a place like karasuno to grow into himself is making me weep
look at the connections! where would we be without ukai keishin? but i think what’s important here was atsumu dragging kageyama’s true self out of him with that one line. atsumu seeing how kageyama could be more and how he destroyed himself out of fear of repeating what happened
in his final year of middle school. how kageyama essentially tried to build himself out of the image of the most ideal setter in his vicinity. like yes he was aware of his own talents but because he was never great at connecting to others he thought this was both the best & ONLY
method. until atsumu basically told him that it isn’t. and in this chapter both ukai and the rest of his team basically affirm it. they won’t abandon him. they might fight but they’ll stick with him so it’s okay to make demands. it’s okay to be yourself. [ tobio feels max ]
