NORM.
In 2001, I was 13. It was a time where powerful barkadas really dominated campuses. Im not part of that. If I didnt play sports, I'd probably graduate w/o you noticing.
The setup was typical, tiring yes, and not viewed as anything else but "well what do you do about it?"

TRUTH.
In a 2020 context where the youth have more access to information and diversity of opinions, it's easy to say point blank that it had a problematic plot.
But for us back then? it was just a complex love story of 2 people with completely opposite personalities & status.

SENSITIVITIES.
There are scenes from MG that rattled us but we didn't quite know how to process. No socmed so it was also easy to forget coz soon as we go back to school, all we can talk about was the fluff we felt. But at this day and age,you cant just let that conversation go.

ROLE PLAYING.
Tbh, playing a toxic persona in a work of fiction should not be the main concern. Because if the storyline was written that way then it should be portrayed that way.
I guess what all holds us back is the elevation. Because unlike before, the risks are higher now.

STAKES.
Storytelling should be at a god tier level if we want to resurface the 20y/o plot of Hana Yori Dango bcoz the risk of an outdated value formation it can create is at a much larger scale now.
...and BrightWin is coming from a show that had such a progressive storyline.

Coz the drop was so sudden even though this has been in the works since Oct2019, the missed opportunity to bank on BWs influence to openly support the LGBT equality agenda was glaring. Majority of their top shows are around this, so it was a valid (1)

CASTING.
Visually, they got the right people. All 5 of them. Screen testing wise, GMM's been acing it so objectively, this was IT.
The problem is recency. Wala bang 3 month rule dyan?
I get their intent to keep the momentum but wished they could've tread lightly and paced it.

VALID FEELINGS.
Imagine not being over a kiss that is 7 months in the making, a simultaneous launch of BW owned products, a music video drop by end of the week, a lineup of concerts in Oct (2gether Live on Stage), Nov (Fantopia), Dec (Big Mountain Music Fest)....
--then BAM.

ELEVATION.
The strong ask for a glow up of a 2 decade old storyline being adapted for the 5th time is anchored on the fact that 2 of the cast members are at the peak of everything. Being a non moving target for the antis makes it easy coz the expectations are higher on them.

If they pick up the character devt in Meteor Garden S2 and elevate it to 2021 flavor then there's potential.
DaoMingSi's dynamics expands here including his emotional scenes. You can see Jerry Yan's transition w/c is a good opportunity for Bright to shine.

If it's true that Win's role is actually that of Xi Men, the focus created for him on S2 would also be a better jump off point to give depth to his playboy character & showcase what he can actually do w/ his acting which we all know has been very impressive.

REAL WORLD.
Like any other job, we all wish that our next is a step up. But from a leader PoV, i can attest that lateral moves are also healthy for mastery. Sometimes, we are good at what we do but not necessarily ripe enough for the next level. Lateral moves bridges that gap

CALMING EFFECT.
Our solace comes from the fact that both Bright & Win are genuinely excited in playing their roles. They've never let us down when it came to their involvement and taste in portrayal and so we are shifting our energy to that fact & pray for the glow up we wish

As long as no one is disrespected, this untimely mourning is understandable. Let's continue to support BrightWin because they worked hard to get here & they cant lose us in the process.
We miss them as early as now too. But a good cry isn't a bad idea.

This might be theire big break. Just like our two boys who got theirs earlier. I say we give them a chance to showcase what they can.
