I actually worked for a DA candidate who was backed by George Soros last year. He spent tons of money in our district and it helped us win, like any other big political spender people are going to notice that certain funders champion certain causes. I don't think it's nefarious.
If you happen to support the same causes as a George Soros or the Kochs you are going to generally find their spending to have merit, if you don't, you won't...
The bigger point to me is that big spenders shouldn't have so much heft in our system period. Folks like Newt Gingrich spent years pushing for deregulating campaign finance, though, and this makes our system more vulnerable to funders like...George Soros.
All that being said the liberal umbrage at Soros is a bit autocratic. You want someone empowered to spend millions in politics but no one can criticize them? Of course people can criticize them, just keep it within reason.
Funny thing is Kochs and Soros are jointly funding a few projects, like antiwar stuff and criminal justice https://twitter.com/Beijo11/status/1306430446855692293
