Even amongst other deaf people, I am unusual, because I have a rare type of hearing loss called Auditory Neuropathy Spectrum Disorder. This means that everything about my ears works fine and as normal, but my nerves do not.

a part of hearing is in the wiring, and mine doesn’t work. Hence why I’m severely Deaf. In a nutshell, my hardware is normal, and should be working fine, but the wiring doesn’t, and so nothing really works.

worse as time goes on, which is what is happening with me. So I am rather worried that one day I’ll be profound. I’m trying to get comfortable with that, but it’s still scary. So learning Auslan is super important.
