Waiting for all the other apps to release their widgets. #iOS14
You can also stack the widgets.
#iOS14 also has pinned messages so you can quick select convos, and threaded replies (like Messenger, etc.) for its Messages app. The threaded replies feature isn’t that great though, it’s still a little hide-and-seek looking for which message of yours they thread-replied to.
Also has emoji search integration on the keyboard. #iOS14
PICTURE IN PICTURE (FINALLY!) #iOS14

*Apps need to add support for this to work on theirs, but for Safari it works like this:

1. On YouTube, search for a video.
2. Watch > full screen button > picture in picture button
3. Swipe up Safari then carry on with your biz
FaceTime Eye Contact

If you’re used to looking at the window of whom you’re talking to instead of the cam, this is for you. Machine Learning will do its job for you & make it seem you’re looking at the camera. Might be weird, though. #iOS14

Settings > FaceTime > Eye Contact
Safari Privacy Report

This only works if you’re not on private browsing mode. You’ll basically be able to see all the trackers following you on the interweb. #iOS14

Safari > aA > Privacy Report
Approximate Location

Apps ask for your location & that is quite a concern. Now you can veto which apps you’ll allow to see your exact location or you can just simply share an approximate one. #iOS14

Settings > Privacy > Location Services > Choose App > Turn off Precise Location
The Back *freaking* Tap feature đŸ€Ż

Tap the back of your iPhone and voila! an action happens. It can take a screenshot, launch the Control Center, etc. #iOS14

Settings > Accessibility > Touch > Back Tap (should be on) > Double/Triple Tap > Choose your action
[Cont.] Back Tap feature

You might need to add a little force when you tap the back of your phone, especially if you have iPhone cases on. Do the gestures deliberately (not too fast, not too slow)

*It only works on iPhone 8 and above. #iOS14
Sleep Mode

Let your phone sleep when you do.

Health App > Set Up Sleep > Fix sleepinm schedule > Enable Sleep Mode

Further customize this for your own preferences. #iOS14
You can also set your default browser app so whenever you open a link, it automatically opens on your chosen browser. #iOS14

Settings > Choose a browser app (Chrome, etc.) > Default Browser App
Another privacy-related update is that a green 🟱 light automatically appears whenever you use your camera. #iOS14
This is minor detail but Apple went nuts with this pen color-picker!

Take a screenshot and tap the color picker icon and this is what you’ll see. #iOS14
Call notifications doesn’t take up the entire screen anymore! #iOS14
And Siri doesn’t invade your whole screen anymore too! #iOS14
You can also hide Pages and since you now have a automated App Library that segments your apps accordingly.

Hold down the home screen and press the dotted buttons, you’ll see your Pages. Uncheck/check Pages you want to hide/appear. #iOS14
Picture in Picture for FaceTime

(Excuse my mom’s foot, it’s hard to direct her with techy stuff 😅)

You get prompts if the person on the other end of the call takes a photo, you can also collapse your window to the side while having a call & doing something else. #iOS14
Safari also got a little update. It’s faster than it has ever been (I’m no code person but it says on their update though) 😂 #iOS14
Hidden Albums

You can easily hide a photo, but with #iOS14 you can now hide that hidden photos collectively.

Settings > Photos > Hidden Albums (off to hide it)
Easily adjust your video settings by tapping those numbers. You could got to HD > 4K and so on + frame rates. #iOS14
Whenever you take a photo using your front cam and you look at it, it appears flipped, right? iPhone has fixed an option for that.

Settings > Photos > Mirror Front Camera (on)

Now when you take a photo using the front cam, it’ll appear just the way you captured it. #iOS14
For Apple Music users (not me anymore obvs), it has now autoplay like Spotify so... never-ending music?😂 #iOS14
There is a cool feature on the weather app but you only see it when it’s raining. It’s like Karen Smith that predicts the rainfall in the next hour or so.🌧 #iOS14
They also refined the Control Center customizations, kind of. You don’t need to take an extra step to fix the controls. #iOS14

New controls:
Sound Recognition
Sleep Mode
Spatial Audio feature for AirPods Pro only on iPhone. I cannot try this since I’m not using AirPods Pro.😭 #iOS14
On AirPods (again), if your AirPods are paired with multiple iPhones, it can automatically switch to another device playing without having to manually select your AirPods again to play on your other device. #iOS14
A flexible view on Photos. Aside from the usuals, you’ve got these options. #iOS14

(Yes, my camera roll has more BLACKPINK stuff)
An option to add captions on your photos is now available. Might come in handy for when you’re searching for a specific photo out of a zillion ones in your camera roll. #iOS14
#iOS14 is more on the privacy end of things, and this is a good detail (imo).

You can now control which apps can full or selected access on your photos.

*A disclaimer is also on top of the keyboard when you’re within apps.

Settings > Privacy > Photos > Choose App > Access
Notes app with some modifications as well. #iOS14
Shape recognition on Notes app. I tried doodling an awful circle but held onto it for a few seconds until the app does its thing and refined my doodle into a perfect circle. Works for other shapes, arrows or so. #iOS14
Sound Recognition

#iOS14 has this feature that your device will listen to its surroundings until once it has identified a specific sound, it’ll have you notified.

Settings > Accessibility > Sound Recognition > Choose sounds you want your device to recognize
As for connectivity, I haven’t had any issues with my AirPods disconnecting on my iPhone. I had some on iOS 13.7.

UI feels neater, UX is pretty solid, smoother transitions. Overall performance seemed faster, too. More miscellaneous changes (new wallpapers, etc.) #iOS14
