Alright, my unbiased opinion thread on the PS5 vs Xbox Series X (pretty much going into the abyss but putting it out there anyway):

In terms of specs, they are pretty much the same. Xbox edges out with CPU, PS5 with GPU. Still, close enough that it’s negligible.
When it comes to internal storage, XBox beats out PS5 BUT you’re getting 1 maybe 2 additional digital game installs over PS5. Not as impressive when viewed that way.
I use external storage anyway. Now in that department, Xbox has a 1TB Expansion card with a proprietary port (possibly giving it the advantage of loading speed)

PS4 already allows the use of any external drive up to 8TB. Safe to assume the PS5 will allow at least as much.
So with external storage I’d have to say that PS5 wins in that metric unless the proprietary port speed of the Xbox is something truly special, like Barry Allen fast. I personally don’t mind a second or two of longer load time if I don’t have to constantly manage storage space
Xbox is banking hard on XCloud and the ability to stream your console on mobile devices. I really like that feature, particularly because I have an hour commute to get to work and it would be a great way to pass the 2 hours each day.

UNFORTUNATELY...
...we are in a post COVID19 world and I work from home now. Something MS couldn’t possibly have foreseen when they put the wheels in motion.

I really don’t have a need to make my console mobile now. When I go out, it’s to go out. I won’t want to be looking at a screen.
Prices? Both are reasonable, w/ differences not being large enough to sway anybody one way or another

Xbox’s monthly payment plan is genius. Wish that was a thing when I was in university

However, personally, I’m in a place where I can buy them up front. So not a factor for me
Subscription services? They are the same, pay for PS Plus or Game Pass to play online, get additional perks such as discounted or free games. Though back in the 360/PS3 days, Xbox Live was substantially better. Never got XB1, so I can’t legitimately compare the current generation
So, at the end of the day and a long thread, it comes down to what it always comes down to at launch. Exclusive titles.

At the moment, I gotta say that PS5 has more. That’s just quantifiable. Are they better? Many look to be but thats speculation/opinion. Not a valid metric.
So that said, I actually won’t be getting either console at launch. I need to get a nice 4K or 8K TV first to fully experience what either of them can truly do.

Though I’ll probably get PS5 a few months after launch.
If not for COVID19 resulting in working from home permanently, xCloud and streaming most certainly would’ve swayed me into getting an Xbox Series X though. With MS’s focus on functionality, I may get it also down the line

Fin.
