i said that on the blackhill gc already but lemme tweet it on public: i'm scared to watch the black widow movie. natasha is a very complex character and i just feel like the movie will not handle to tell her story as it should be told. moreover,
this movie is just. late. very late. sure, i agree with scarlett that 10 years of playing natasha gave her some deeper understanding of the character, and bc of that she can provide us, the fans, with the best performance but honestly speaking, this movie should have dropped
after the civil war at the latest. they hype isn't going to be the same. what's more, because of not getting the movie for so long, many of us view natasha differently. everyone has their own headcanons and i feel like the movie will just crush them all, providing us with sth
totally different. and this is the most terrifying thing to me. that the movie will just simply destroy the image of natasha i have in my head and make me feel invalidated due to the fact i tend to project onto her character. it will simply feel like a personal attack on me.
then there are things like hurtful stereotypes about russians and just slavs in general that are v likely to appear in a blockbuster movie, the lack of an actual slavic representation in the cast, the mishandling of trauma and probably making jokes about it bc it's mcu after all.
idk, i'm just. scared.
