I went to my local McDonalds to try the Travis Scott meal.

Mother of 2 in front of me ordered 4 meals to go. I joked with her about how Travis secured the bag.

“I’m buying this meal bc it’s the least expensive combo on the menu.”

No one is reporting this/pointing this out.
There are a lot of folks who are buying this meal bc of price sensitivity, not bc of the celebrity collaboration.

Wondering if this was part of the strategy from the Travis team, to keep prices down?

It’s near 30% off comparable combos:
All the thinkfluencers talking about how this collaboration disrupted supply chains because of marketing prowess and whatnot never bothered to actually buy the meal & realize that the combo of affordable meal in a time of record unemployment/pandemic is why it is moving units.
So I’ve been standing here at this BedStuy McDonalds like a marketing research weirdo looking at who orders what, and let me tell you:

“Travis Scott meal” is like a cheat code for an affordable meal for people in this community. This is not a rich neighborhood. It’s practical.
I really want to know how much influence Travis and his team had over pricing bc I’m sure McD isn’t super happy with the margins esp with all the marketing involved.

If so, he’s ensured that a lot of people get to eat a full meal out here, man. That’s bigger than “marketing.”
