There are media reports on various interpretations of #NDIS Commission data this morning and quite frankly, the politically expedient bashing up of the independent commission and people who work in the disability sector needs to stop.
People with disability have the right to complain about the services they receive, but keep in mind the vast majority of people who work in the disability sector do exceptional work and are doing it for the right reasons. #NDIS
There are over 400,000 people in the #NDIS and every participant deserves to get the best quality of care – which is why it was a Coalition Government who started the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission in the first place.
This wasn’t something the Labor party proposed as part of the #NDIS – it was designed and supported by people with disability, the states and the Parliament when it was legislated.
The Government has already taken action to strengthen systems and processes to bolster support for vulnerable or at-risk #NDIS participants including increased banning powers through legislation that is currently before the Parliament.
To support the work of the #NDIS Commission, I also recently announced funding to boost the workforce by approximately 100 staff and an additional $92.9 million over the next four years.
The #NDIS Commission has my full support and will continue to do the important work in helping protect Australia’s NDIS participants.
