My university has just built a new 200 seat auditorium. Whilst I can access the room, once inside I canât access the staggered seating & there isnât a dedicated space for wheelchair users. Itâs 2020. Iâm tired of disabled people not being considered as users of academic spaces. https://twitter.com/HannahntheWolf/status/1306314324621705216">https://twitter.com/Hannahnth...
To clarify, this is an auditorium built in a new council owned building that they provided some funding for on the basis of them having space within the building for uni students. So the building isnât theirs, but I was told it was them that designed the space & kitted it out.
So essentially, the university took a space to provided to them that was accessible and made it inaccessible.
This is in a building with a full Changing Places toilet. So I can pee, but I canât attend a lecture or talk because why would a disabled person want to do that?!
