I recently listened to @chrissacca discuss with @peterthiel about great qualities of founders in Unicorn Startups. Chris Sacca was an early investor in Twitter, Uber, and Instagram. Thread 👇🏻
What is a unicorn startup? A unicorn startup is a company that is valued over $1 Billion before it becomes traded on the stock market. An example of former unicorns are Google, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, and Uber.
3/ Sacca said the difference between a unicorn success and a failure is that the founder of the unicorn completely believes in the future success of the company. They don’t use conditional language. They use future tense.
4/ Founder of Instagram, Kevin Systrom, was a one-man operation working alone at a desk when talking with Sacca about investing in Instagram. Systrom kept talking in simple future tense, when we get to 50 Million users, we will do this. Kevin barely had any users nor a staff.
5/ Founder of Uber, Travis Kalanick, knew from day one that they would disrupt transportation and logistics. He would often talk about the problems that they would face years out before they even happened.
5/ Peter Thiel was in the board room when Yahoo offered to buy Facebook for $1 Billion. At the time, it was going to be one of the largest deals of all time. Thiel said Zuckerberg was almost insulted by the offer. He would have became the richest millennial in the world.
6/Zuckerberg had a vision to complete.
In conclusion, decide what your dream is and make a plan. Once you make that plan, create a process and master the process. Do not let anything stand in between you and greatness.
7/ @GoingParabolic and @APompliano said buy bitcoin. Did I do this right?
8/ @sacca @peterthiel Don’t make this thread go viral all at once
9/ @JoePompliano has turned into my motivation behind my first thread. Did I make you proud?! haha
