The purpose of the cat in the BTS Universe
*Disclaimer: We are aware the cat is most likely also correlated to TU, however, in this thread we will only be explaining the cat's purpose in BU.*
The cat. Is it evil? Is it good?

The truth is, the cat is neither.

The cat is nor absolutely evil nor good.

Spoiler alert: The cat also isn't physically real
To explain the cat, we must refer back to the book 'Demian' as well as the god of good and evil, heaven and hell, Abraxas.

Abraxas is also said to be the serpent which tricked Adam and Eve into eating the apple. However, he did it with the intention to open their eyes
to the world and to make them realize that paradise isn't forever. Essentially, Abraxas gave Adam and Eve a wake up call.

Guess what the tree in the Garden of Eden is? The Tree of Life.
"The Tree of Life was in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil." https://twitter.com/army_society/status/1226528421410418690
"No tree, it is said, can grow to heaven unless its roots reach down to hell."

- Carl Gustav Jung
So how is the cat related to Abraxas?

Simply enough, the cat represent in a sense, Abraxas. The cat is a guiding figure for the boys. We see the concept of yin and yang heavily integrated throughout Jungian psychology.
Similarly, the cat also possesses many aspects of yin and yang. Starting from it's 2 colored eyes. One is blue, and the other one green.

Blue and green are most commonly seen as the colors of nature, with the sky being blue and earth being mainly green.
The cat also seems to look completely black at night, and completely white in daylight.

It's the idea that this cat is neither good or evil. The cat simply exists to help guide the boys and allow them to realize the truth about themselves and the world around them.
Now, we mentioned earlier that Abracadabra originates from Abraxas.

Remember the magic shop from Fake Love?

"Magic Shop is a psychodramatic technique that exchanges fear for a positive attitude."
That's exactly what Jin did.

He traded his fear for a positive attitude, in this case, he made a pact with the white cat and as a result he was granted the ability to travel back in time to try and save his friends.
He traded in his fear of facing his Shadow, which is admitting to his friends that he needs their help and that he can't find the map of the soul alone, as well as explaining to them them why he feels immense guilt for their friendship falling apart.
Because if you remember, Jin traded in a earpiece for a positive attitude.

He was seen wearing that earpiece in BTS BEGINS. The earpiece symbolizes his betrayal against his friends when they were still in school together.
The reason why their friendship fell apart, from The Notes, is because Jin's father had put immense pressure on Jin to do well in school, and one day the principal threatened Jin that if he didn't expose what his friends and him were doing in the abandoned classroom,
the principal would tell Jin's father Jin isn't doing well in school. As a result, Jin ended up giving in and told the principal what was going on in the classroom.

In a sense, you could say the magic shop keeper is perhaps Abraxas, allowing people to trade in their fears
for a positive attitude, only to ultimately open their eyes to the truth that the happiness they traded in for with their fears, is fake (fake love).
The only way to learn to find real love and to love yourself is through facing your Shadow and accepting the truth as it is.
"The most terrifying thing is to accept oneself completely"

- C.G. Jung

That is the price. The price is to face your Shadow. Face Yourself. https://twitter.com/army_society/status/1305708105561329664
In a way the cat sort of represents nature. So often do we say that life isn't fair, and we wonder why terrible things happen to us. We often wonder what would happen if we could get a do-over for all the embarrassing and terrible things we did perhaps years ago, only to
come to the conclusion that all we can do is accept reality and move on. Our worst enemy is ourselves, and if we don't learn to forgive ourselves and learn to let go of the past, we won't be able to break out of the cycle of never ending misery of regret and pain. https://twitter.com/army_society/status/1304667476504920064
The cat, similar to Demian in the book 'Demian', is simply a guiding figure for the boys.

The idea of BU is to tell us that growing up is indeed painful. However, it's through the pain we experienced and overcame that allows us to grow us human beings. We learn some of life's
most valuable lessons from these experiences. Even if these experiences may be excruciating, they open our eyes to something new, and allow us to understand a part of ourselves that we perhaps didn't before.
This is why HYYH consists of 2 parts. Like yin and yang, one cannot exist without the other. 1 part is all the wonderful things, while the other are the painful things we experience throughout our youth and our process of growing up.
But together, the good and the bad, is what makes it the Most Beautiful Moments of Life.
