it’s about harry and his womanizer image

the verses are a conversation between him and management and him and himself. there is a two way conflict here

“i’m not ever going back” he’s never going back to the life he once had, he’s now in the spotlight

“do you know who you are” are paparazzi, fans, interviewers, and management putting that womanizer image on him, never letting him get away from it

“i’m never coming back down” is management telling him that they won’t let him go back to his old life and now he’s tied to a contract

“it’d be so sweet if things just stayed the same” hes thinking of how nice things would be if his contract didn’t overwork him and he could be in the same place as before

“all the lights couldn’t put out the dark running through my heart” the fame that he gained couldn’t quench that darkness inside of him, that sadness

“lights up and they know who you are” he’s famous, people know who he is, and they know what he’s known for. either a shipment or for being a womanizer

“so bright sometimes” it’s overwhelming sometimes but he can’t go back, he won’t

“i’m never going back now” he is unable to rewind time and go back and fix things and change his past
