lol went trawling for rwby news through some tumblrs I remembered and saw the dumbest post about how “screaming for the guillotine is useless and won’t work in modern day and you should perform REAL activism like join a union” like... number one you’re wrong and two both is good

tldr they say the reason the guillotine worked in France & Russia was to stop the monarchists from coming back and claiming power, and that cuz Bezos has his money in banks they’d just transfer it to the next power...

...which completely misses several points. Number 1: The American Capitalist is a modern monarchist. They will use their access to money & their supposed charisma to steal power by any means necessary. Execution is as pragmatic to stop their rise to power as it was for monarchs.

Number Two: Yes, offing JUST Bezos wouldn’t change anything. But the point of revolution is not just to stop at one guy and let the rest walk free. And any bank robber will tell you: stick a gun in an accountant’s face, they’ll do what you want, including redistribution.

Number three: god it’s just absurdly condescending when the PLANET IS LITERALLY ON FIRE. Our governments have universally failed to act. In the face of extinction, ANY alternative is preferable. And not only is taking the manipulators of the world off the board a good step...

...but quite frankly? Due to their complacency and complicitness, it’s what they fully deserve. The calls for guillotine are more than just people compensating; they are calls for a long overdue justice, one that may be forced to become a final act of revenge.

this is of course tweets so I can’t go as in-depth as I like but yknow what maybe I’m glad I’m on Twitter instead cuz people are confronted with Actual News way more often and as such are at least often willing to hear out calls for necessary violence
