Aba women riot didn't happen in Aba. In fact, little or nothing happened in Aba.

Everything happened in Opobo District which is in today's Ikot Abasi. Women from Abak District, Ikot Ekpene District and Ndoni/Opobo town in Rivers State also joined the riot...
But you see Nigerian history, writers must bend it to fit in their cap.

There is a hall of fame that was erected at Ikot Abasi in honour of those women and the names the dead women are on it.

Sir Egbert Udoma, Former Chief Justice of Uganda's mother statue was also molded ...
...at the then Opobo district.

There are relics and information in the women's riot museum. You can check it out there yourself
In the museum is also the names of women who died and the location where they died...

Their names say it all...
Why history writers chose to name it Aba Women's riot is a question we all deserve to be answered.
In case you want to visit the museum, there are other historical side attractions in the town like the Amalgamation House where Lord Lugard signed the Amalgamation of the North and South, and Bridge of No Return. https://www.google.com/url?q=https://m.youtube.com/watch%3Fv%3DmQS2HeJ03F4&sa=U&ved=2ahUKEwjl76yY0u7rAhWIMewKHQrsB8gQtwIwAXoECAUQAQ&usg=AOvVaw1MBFFeyuOA11BUkDtYGftx
