cool fact: communism has never existed on a large scale in human history
except for the pre-civilization days, if you wanna argue that that was a form of communism
but in general, when ppl argue "communism has failed!" it doesn't make any sense, since the soviet union - eg - never achieved it. communism, in the marxist understanding, is a stateless, classless, moneyless society. by definition, the soviet state couldn't have been communist
seeing some ppl having problems with me using the word "civilized", or "primitive". i am against using that terminology, it has negative connotations. just going with the terms marx used here. also, there were many communist/communist-like societies, but i meant more the
"modern" conception of communism which marx envisioned, one with urban development, industry, etc.. i am sry if some of you felt i was being dismissive of the fascinatingly democratic structures of many indigenous societies in the americas, etc.
