Breaking my Baby Yoda pledge because I need to talk about my friends. People say Twitter isn't the real world, but I disagree. Over the past few months I've met some amazing people thanks to Twitter. 1/6
They are some of the kindest, smartest and most loving people I've met. Some have become close friends, some I've only talked to online and some I don't even know their names. But they are real friends. 2/6
Some have experienced pain, hate and hardship I can't fathom in my relatively privileged world. It is entirely understandable that they would be angry. And yet they make time to be engaged, informed, compassionate members of the community and good friends. 3/6
When they do inevitably get angry or hurt they don't always act the way I would. But I'm not going to judge them for that. In their shoes I'd be a crying, screaming, angry mess. 4/6
Like many I could have ignored them. But I listened. And I've been inspired to break out of my comfortable routine and move away from what I accepted as norms. I'm a better person thanks to them. 5/6
So, before you write that tweet calling for civility or asking why they can't go through the customary channels please know they've done that. Nobody was listening. 6/6
