My response to "woke, hippie" Jesus and other false teachings thread based on scripture because a few people pointed out that this could be useful.
"Jesus was nice."

Jesus was kind, but He called people "brood of vipers" (Matt 23:33), "hypocrites" (Matt 23:27), children of the devil (John 8:44), cursed (Matt 25:41).
Jesus using this language does not make Him any less perfect, but it shows how angry we should be when others trample upon what is sacred.

If we do not accept the word of God, we are considered children of the devil. We have more words of God than we did at the time of NT.
"Jesus never talked about marriage so He reversed the teachings on homosexual marriage."

1) Jesus continually preached the Law of Moses and never said that.

2) In Matt 19:4-6 and Mark 10:6-9, He clearly refers to marriage as between a man and a woman.
3) People in the NT clearly understood that homosexual marriage was not allowed. 1 Cor. 6:9-10 and 1 Timothy 9:10.

If that is not enough, there exists a sleuth of modern revelation that proves this. It is wrong to give people false hope that it will change.
"Jesus was a communist."

Jesus does indeed ask us to provide for the temporal welfare for others (Matt 25:31-46), but nowhere does He say to use government to do this.

In fact, read D&C 134.
"Jesus would have hated conservatives."

This is based on not understanding the Pharisees. The Pharisees' problem was not living the law, but not understanding the covenantal, charity-based aspects of the law (Matt. 12:1-8).
"Jesus accepted everyone."

Jesus loved everyone, ate with sinners, was kind to them, but preached the Law of Moses (Matt. 5:17-20, Luke 17:12-14, John 8:3-7).
The Law of Moses included not getting tattoos, marriage between a man and a woman, not bearing false witness, not becoming a sex worker, etc..

If you take issue with people saying not to do those things now, you would have taken issue with Jesus in His ministry.
Jesus does not accept or condone our sins and has a strong definition of what sin is. Yes, sin includes not loving others, but especially for members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we have prophets to expound the word of God and tell us what sin is.
You are not the one called to interpret scripture for The Church, to receive revelation for The Church, to define sin for The Church, Jesus Christ called a prophet for that and 14 others to support him in these efforts.
"The Family: A Proclamation to the World is not doctrine."

It is not canonized, but everything in that document can be traced to canonized scripture.

Every. Single. Thing.
Whether or not you agree with the teachings of The Church has everything to do with whether or not you agree with Jesus Christ.

Harsh saying, but it's true. You cannot draw near to Jesus Christ with words, but have convictions that oppose His.
