Reflecting on the fact that two-thirds of young Americans (18-39 years-old) never learned that 6 million Jews were murdered in the Holocaust, we have to ask ourselves: Is this by design? We know that antisemitism is rampant all over the world. So, who is developing the curricula
for our schools? What is their agenda? Since Holocaust denial is prevalent in white supremacist conspiracy theories, why are we bolstering white supremacy and neo-Nazism by keeping our kids ignorant of the past? Perhaps if they learned of the horrors of Nazi Germany, we
wouldn't read about ICE detainees getting forced hysterectomies or immigrants being forcibly separated from their children at our borders? Perhaps if people learned about the rise of fascism in the 20th century -- about Spain under Franco, Chile under Pinochet, Hitler's Germany,
we wouldn't be facing the very real threat of fascism in America today. If we are ignorant of history, we are doomed to repeat it. Sadly, there seem to be many who want to repeat those dark periods of the last century. Because this time, they're hoping they'll win.
