unsaid thoughts about the water pillar, giyuu tomioka (a thread)

contains manga spoilers, pls proceed with caution.

im still grateful that giyuu's the one in charge & found the kamado siblings in the beginning among the pillars bc if not,, nezuko will be long dead. can u imagine how severely devastated tanjiro would be if he lost her too, seeing her sister beheaded right in front of his eyes?

giyuu could have finished nezuko after tanjiro passed out but he's been simultaneously battling his own thoughts while maintaining his defense mode. HE EVEN PUTS HIS SWORD BACK INTO ITS SHEATH, dropping his killing intent to negative x

eventho giyuu swears "not to waver", he spared nezuko, setting aside his own convictions & going against the demon slayer corps bc he knew she's different. she fought to protect despite massive bloodloss. the amount of humanity giyuu has in him. he saw hope in the midst of chaos.

tho it was never directly stated, that's how i view it from giyuu's perspective. a tinge of hope, a chance for nezuko. he trusts. he believes.

he emphatizes, he understands, he knows exactly how tanjiro feels but he kept it all inside.

giyuu gave tanjiro a good push (by triggering him, making his rage his driving factor), not wanting to feel helpless and discouraged after loosing his family. he also sent him to urukodaki so he could be a demon slayer

he protected & defended the kamado siblings from the pillars. he's even willing put his own life in line with them by committing seppuku if nezuko eats a human. take note, he only met them ONCE.

he mastered water breathing style and he even created his own form

his actions were often misunderstood. he's rather overbullied than overhyped.

he effortlessly finished lower moon 5 with one blow

he's notably strong but he constantly feels powerless. the guilt he carries thinking of himself not worthy to be a pillar and their equal, also signifies how humbled and down to earth he is (but has been widely misunderstood by the pillars, thinking of him too highly of himself).

we all know he's a dork but he's not completely stupid. he thinks before he acts (his words kinda messed up with his intentions sometimes) but he could knock your senses with his few words.

bUT WHY THE HELL HE EATS LIKE THAT?? FORGET WHAT I SAID HE'S PLAINLY DUMB I WANT TO SLAP HIM LOL

he never moved on from his past, continuously blaming himself for being too weak and not being able to protect anyone. hence, he isolates.

3d's. distant. dumb. depressed.

he's more than just a stoic and socially impaired chara. he IS TRYING. he needs someone who'll understand him..

and then tanjiro came along

he defeated uppermoon 3 alongside tanjiro, fought muzan althroughout the night, lost his arm and still fighting to death til the next morning. has a good stamina mina eh eh waka waka and endurance..

he's not a weakling!!

but then again, after everything he has done.. he still feels incapable and useless

giyuu did not hesitate to attack demon tanjiro no matter how painfully tormenting it is.

this is all too much!! T^T he protected the siblings since forever but turns out he's the only pillar left to fight with all his strength–

aside from inosuke and zenitsu, who were apparently, unable to. (since sanemi fainted and the rest uhm, yknow..)

proves how resolved and strong giyuu is and not a weakass pussy!
