THREAD: A lot of teachers are struggling with the daunting amount of “live” class time in their schedules. Inevitably, every kid needs to have self-guided work time to actually learn skills. The live sessions should be used to have discussions that build towards mastery 1/4.
The most logical solution is to build instructional videos and a well organized LMS so that students digest the information asynchronously and then discuss their thoughts, ideas and struggles synchronously. 2/4
If you have too much live class time, then modify how that time is used. You can open the class up with a discussion, then release the kids (in some cases to breakout rooms) for self-guided work time. Then have them return at the end of class to close out and talk next steps. 3/4
