I& #39;m in hospital. It& #39;s day 6. I& #39;m sharing a room. I& #39;m going to start tweeting my random thoughts, to pass the time cos I& #39;m bored AF.
(They basically know what& #39;s wrong with me, just waiting for my bloodwork to improve, so I& #39;m not that stressed about the health aspects)
I& #39;m in a room for three, currently occupied by me and Older Lady 1 (OL1). Many of my random thoughts will be about OL1...
There& #39;s been OL2 and OL3 but they got to go home. Me and OL1 abide.
Aha, breaking news, OL1 has put words to her hitherto only hinted at xenophobia. She complains about the nurses (meaning all staff) not being as good as before....
How so? says I. A lot of Eastern Europeans, says she. Bingo, thinks I!
OL1 has been in a lot of pain while she& #39;s been here, and she doesn& #39;t really understand hospitals (despite having an epic number of prior stays) so I kinda feel for her. But only when she& #39;s not talking.
In case all this tweeting gets me cancelled, bear in mind that I& #39;m very bored, haven& #39;t seen my husband or child in a week, and I& #39;m very very bored.
And hungry. I did a few days without eating much over the weekend and I haven& #39;t caught up on that missed good yet. I& #39;m starving.
I had to order today& #39;s food yesterday morning, and I don& #39;t remember what I& #39;m getting.
It& #39;s still not here, my tea.
Say Bob Loblaw out loud.
That& #39;s from Arrested Development.
My tea is here!
It& #39;s some sort of chicken and veg stir fry. Not bad, tbh.
For a sec, I thought it was coconut flavoured. This would have been a Very Bad Thing.
Just had a recitation of the Three Little Pigs, with pictures, via video call. Twas fabulous, so it was.
OL1 is on the phone, she& #39;s doubling down on the "the staff are bad cos their Eastern Europeans". The staff don& #39;t like OL1.
Just had my obs done. I passed (I assume).
I didn& #39;t promise fascinating content...
I& #39;ve heard all of OL1& #39;s medical consultations. I know more about her medical condition than she does, because she is not following all of it.
I& #39;m the child of a doctor, friend of many doctors and have religiously watched Casualty, ER and Grey& #39;s Anatomy so I know how all this shit works.
The other night she demanded to see a doctor at about 8pm cos she was unhappy with something to do with her meds.
Madam, there are max 3 doctors in the hospital right now and none of them give a damn about you unless you& #39;re dying.
I don& #39;t know how people without a bit existing medical knowledge get through medical issues. I always have someone to translate for me. And you need to be able to advocate for yourself.
OL is telling me her life story. Not much input required from me.
Her family business had someone work for them until they were in their 70s. So y& #39;all didn& #39;t pay them enough to retire?
Breaking! We have OL4!
(For the sake of politeness, we& #39;ll say OL means Other Lady. But the other one would also apply)
OL1 may be s bit deaf. All the while OL4 was wheeled in with chatty nurses, OL1 just kept going with the life story. She was on sliced meats at the time.
OL4 has a continually beepy blood pressure machine. She might be my new favourite...
OL4 looks a bit like my mum and is also annoyed by the beepy machine, she is actually my favourite.
She& #39;s leaving tomorrow though so I& #39;m not going get emotionally invested. I& #39;m probably here until Friday.
OL1 tripling down on the racism.
I& #39;m going to get out of hospital and government are going to lock is in our homes again, aren& #39;t they?
Time for a movie, I think
The blood pressure machine is still beeping, btw.
Watching Book Club in Netflix. Can I be Jane Fonda when I grow up?
There& #39;s to much food in this movie for a hungry girl on a limited diet.
The beeping has become one long LOUD tone.
More random thoughts tomorrow! Maybe.
Can you download stuff from Disney Plus?
OL1 and OL4 are same age. You wouldn& #39;t guess this to look at them.
