There& #39;s a lot of private stuff happening behind kids in DL classes now. You hear it when they& #39;re unmuted, you see it in their nonvirtual backgrounds. What their rooms look like, their cracked walls, which kids in the class are attending virtual school from a care facility.
You hear it from the kids themselves, who are painfully honest, when they tell their teacher why they don& #39;t have their power cord, how their parent told them NOT to interrupt their work that day, whether there was a fight last night and that& #39;s why homework is late.
We& #39;ve heard parents come into the Zoom after recess dismissal and have conversation with the teacher about their child& #39;s particular performance.
I don& #39;t blame the teacher or the parents or the kids for these discussions -- people are desperate.

But clearly, this is all stuff that normally a teacher would hear only in the private confines of a classroom, not something parents like me should ever be privvy to.

Kids going predictably and wonderfully haywire for the 15 min. their teacher lost power is a funny snapshot of a day that doesn& #39;t always bring a lot to laugh at.
The fact that we all were hungering for SOMETHING OH MY GOD JUST ANYTHING to make us smile is proof how screwed up this all is.
And it& #39;s not changing anytime soon. Fauci doesn& #39;t see us getting out of Distance Learning this school year.

This is not just a brief blip in history. This is a historical time. It must be remembered.
And the "president" is doing everything wrong. He is failing. He *has* failed children, parents, teachers everywhere.
