Sometimes ppl ask me what’s the hardest thing about politics:

- emotional intelligence: knowing how to pick up on other emotions’ will often tell you more then their actions

- ability to play the “game”: you need to know what jargon they use, who are the key players
- identifying and analyzing: I’ll throw community organizing in there but being able to do your research on certain populations, learn what their issues are, and learn how to craft solutions

- battling imposter syndrome: being a you a woman in some of these spaces brings doubts
Working x100: due to the complexity of a lot of issues, the work never steps. You have to constantly keep “doing your homework” on everything that’s going on

Integrity: *pheww* let me just say integrity and authenticity are not common
Identity: I’m not an old person who has gone through the typical hoops and structures in the system, so keeping a sense of identity and embracing that has been challenging
