Huizhou lies in the (PRD) Pearl River Delta Metropolitan Region (珠江三角洲城市圈).
Huizhou lies within near proximity of major cities like: Guangzhou (广州, Shenzen (深圳), Hong Kong (香港) and Dongguang (东莞).

In 214 BC the first emperor of the Qin dynasty (秦) Qin Shi Huang (秦始皇) settled the Baiyue lands (百越) in Lingnan area (嶺南) this resulted in the establishment of Boluo county in Huizhou beloning to Nanhai county.

At the end of the Qin dynasty, Zhao Tuo (赵佗) founded the Nanyue Kingdom (南越国) which made Huizhou Nanyue kingdom territory.
Emperor Wu of Han (漢武帝刘彻) destroyed the ruling of Nanyue Kingdom, which resulted into Huizhou returning to Nanhai county.

During the Qing Dynasty (大清) Sun Yat-Sen (孙中山) launched an uprising twice in Huizhou. The later uprising starting on 6 October was declared failed on 1 November due shortage in food and supplies.

In 1938 during the Chinese - Japanese war, Japan send 2 divisions of a total of 40.000 troops to Huizhou which would eventually lead to the start of attacking Southern-China by the Japanese Imperialist forces.

The National revolutionary Army (國民革命軍) failed to offer resistance to the Japanese Imperialist forces and thus Huizhou fell.

Huizhou lies in the midst of an intersections of Chinese language variants namely: Hakka (客家话), Hokkien (福佬话) and Cantonese (广东话).
Within Huizhou lies the Chaojing gate (朝京门) build around 1100. Was destroyed in the war 80 years ago, and restored later.

Huizhou is relatively easy to reach for tourists due the excellent transport systems with the Pearl River Delta area.
It is a 1.5 hour drive from Shenzen Bao& #39;an airport (深圳宝安国际机场). From Huizhou tourist can easily travel to Guangzhou, Shenzen and Hong Kong.

So far Huizhou, an interesting city with a rich history of wars and not to forget the close relationship with Chinese Communist party fighting Japanese Imperialist forces oppressing China and its people.
