tw / eating disorder

About tw / food. I didnt want to say anything about this but i really have to otherwise i dont think i can sleep. this is coming from someone who is triggered by food on very bad days, who is also on ed twt (No i am NOT willing to talk about this further
, i REFUSE to answer questions about it, I DO NOT want to talk about ed here period.)
(This is the only time i will say anything remotely related to it here and hopefully the last time)
I don't know how and when local and general stan twt started using "tw / food". I've seen tw/cw food being used sometimes on ed twt before but not on local/general twt. Now people are arguing about it, and it has somehow turned into a somewhat 'moral' issue,
whether or not it should be used and if it shows what kind of person you are if you use or dont use it. A lot of people argue that its also for the sake of people with ed/struggle with eating. A lot of people refer to phobias. Etc etc etc.
Pls know that tw food is a HUGE argument in the ed community and outside it. There are people in the ed community who say that it helps them and there are people who say that it doesnt help them. There are people who say that using tw food is counterproductive because it incites
guilt in people who are recovering from disordered eating, or triggers a binge more than the food itself. Theres an argument whether you should use tw (trigger warning) or cw (content warning). It's a very, VERY VERY nuanced issue it's not black and white.
(Of course there are arguments not related to ed too, like phobias or just general dislike of food)
My problem with it is that people don't seem to treat it as a nuanced subject. It's either this or that. And it gets MORAL. You use it? Oh you're a softie with a weak mentality, or you're a good person you care about other people. You don't use it? Good you're a normal
person, or you're a horrible, horrible human being who won't even think of others. People forget that this, being an uncommon trigger, is used and not used usually based on personal stances and most of the time it's not about morality, it's about coping mechanism.
There are people recovering from disordered eating patterns who REFUSE to use tw for food because it villainizes food in their eyes. They're trying to build a healthier relationship with food because they believe food inherently should not be a trigger, it's not the villain, and
using tw for food reminds them of their relationship with food (which isnt ideal). There are people with binge eating disorder who feel guilty and binge instead when using it, because the food gets even more pronounced than when theyre just looking at pictures. There are
people who try to manage their eating disorder by compartmentalizing it into a different account for ed twt, and seeing tw food on local or stan twt makes them feel like theyve never left ed twt. It feels like all.of their social media is turning into ed twt.
These people KNOWINGLY decide to NOT use tw or cw food in their attempt to cope with their struggles and aid them in their recovery. Imagine if you turn this into a moral issue and you think "oh that person doesnt use tw/cw food, what a horrible person, its not like its hard"--
It's HARD for THEM. You don't know them. It's unfair for them too and their recovery if we start collectively judging people based on this.
Equally, it IS helpful for some people. There are people with ed who gets anxious when they read about/see pictures of food. There are people who get nauseous, there are also people who get sad when seeing things they cannot afford to eat. Tw/cw food is very helpful for them,
and if you want to put tw/cw for food even if it doesnt affect you, then by all means GO AHEAD.

In any case, whether or not you decide to use or to not use tw/cw food, remember that there are MANY MANY nuances to this subject, and when it is used, it is used to help people who
DO have problems with it cope, NOT because you are morally obliged to do so. This is not an area that should be used as a moral parameter. This is just a way to cope. Both using and not using it.
Not sure if i explained it clearly, but end of thread i guess
