Being a huge nerd, I stayed up late to see the new #RVAMayor campaign finance reports! No surprise that @LevarStoney raked in the corporate đź’°, including $10,000 accepted from actual evil corporation Altria. But it was another contribution that piqued my interest... 1/
On July 27 (a day after RPD deployed tear gas and other weapons on protesters without provocation) @LevarStoney accepted $5000 from an organization called "Community Leadership PAC" registered to a PO box in Alexandria. FEC documents list "Marston, Christopher" as Treasurer. 2/
That name rung a bell, and a quick Google search confirmed my suspicion. Christopher Marston is counsel for @VA_GOP. And guess what? His address on the @TheRepLawyer site is the same Alexandria PO box listed for Community Leadership PAC on @LevarStoney's disclosure form. 3/
A search of records shows that Community Leadership PAC is a vehicle for cruise lines and related companies to funnel money into campaigns. According to @vpapupdates, they've spent over $250k in VA elections over the years. $110k alone was given to McAuliffe's Common Good PAC. 4/
This is just $5000 out of a quarter million @LevarStoney raised from corporations, lobbyists, developers, personal injury attorneys, and other powerful fat cats these past two months. These are the people who will set the agenda for the next 4 years if Levar wins reelection. 5/
tl;dr - Among the many questionable campaign donations solicited by @LevarStoney are thousands of dollars linked to a PAC which lists a prominent Republican Party attorney as its Treasurer. Any chance that having a mayor beholden to shady fat cat donors will come back to bite us?
