Morning.
It's now 2 days since I watched the #Primodos documentary on Sky but I just can't get it out of my mind. In particular the criminality of the head of UK's then medicines regulator in warning the pharma company (NOT patients) and destroying his research to avoid scrutiny.
>> Professor Inman (UK medicines regulator) conducted a secret study on Primodos in 1975 when the drug was still on the market. This study showed a 5 to 1 relative risk that those taking Primodos would give birth to a child with malformations.
Game over, right? Wrong.
>>
>> Prof Inman doesn't warn patients, as per his professional responsibilities. Instead, documents state that he "has chosen the unofficial route and already passed the findings to the affected manufacturers so they can take measures to avoid medicolegal problems."
#Primodos

As @JasonFarrellSky puts it:
"This is a British regulator. His job is to protect patients. It isn't to warn the manufacturer. His first instinct should be 'There's a dangerous drug out there. We need to take it off the market'. But that's not what his instinct is..."
>>
>>
"His first instinct is to say to the manufacturer... look out!"
And it gets worse. Prof Inman then meets with a representative from Schering, because he's 'not happy about the way his study, which shows a link between birth defects and Primodos, has been received.'
>>
>> Notes from that meeting show that Prof Inman told this scientist from Schering that "he has destroyed all the material on which his investigation is based" and that "he has done that to prevent individual claims being based on his material."
>>
>>
Again quoting @JasonFarrellSky:
"So he burns it. He destroys it. He gets rid of the evidence that could've been used by the families to sue the manufacturer. That's a cover up."
Yes it is. Of the most despicable nature. I strongly recommend you watch this #Primodos documentary

I really can't congratulate you enough on this documentary, @JasonFarrellSky. I know the #Primodos families' story isn't complete yet, but I wonder if like me, you too can see any parallels in this 5 minute video?
