As a foreigner living in America, I’ve noticed a culture of ‘doing things for other people makes you weak.’ Like, it seems being considerate of the sick or the elderly is looked down upon, because caring is for losers and you should only want to get yours.

Of course I’m not saying all Americans are like this, but it’s very foreign to me, and has been hard to wrap my head around. Where does it even come from? Why? Does it spawn from the idea of the ‘American Dream’, that you should work hard for yourself and no one else?
