Ugh the gc has a really good meta discussion about how Vil is going to OB and what exactly triggers it and why it has to happen that way for him to grow as a person and like I’m ready but I’m not ready...
But taking a page out of RJ’s book, you have to look at the one thing Vil doesn’t want to hear, which is that natural beauty/talent sometimes wins over hard work/effort. And why I expect N**** is going to be just as sweet and nice and pure as Snow White, and sickeningly so.
Rook won’t consider N**** as competition because in his mind Vil is already more beautiful (the speech he gave to Vil about the diamonds/tiara during the audition selection). But Rook has never needed that external validation the way Vil has.
Rook couldn’t care less what the entire school thinks of him because he’s confident in what he’s good at and as long as the person(s) he cares about most (Vil) recognizes that it’s enough for him. But Vil is different.
He’s choosing to put more faith in the results from Mira Mira out of insecurity than what those closest to him who know him best (Rook) think. Even in the end if Rook will probably have no choice but to betray Vil, in this way Vil is also betraying Rook (his truest mirror) first.
Obviously there are other factors at play but in the end Vil has to learn 1. there are different kinds of beauty and one doesn’t negate the other (and this would go a long way to improve his relationship with Epel too) 2. how to trust people- one person can’t do everything
3. it’s okay not to be perfect or #1 all the time... sometimes there are just battles you can’t win, regardless of whether it’s fair or not, and sometimes the best self care is letting go instead of pushing yourself harder
I mean ultimately who knows where the story will go but this outline is imho the best catalyst for Vil to grow. And I prolly should have tagged the beginning of this thread with #twstmeta but oh well lol
