I posted on a Reformed Churches group in response to a call for current book readings saying I was reading @aimeebyrdhwt's "No Little Women." Moderator DM'd an hour later to apologize for having to delete my comment because the thread got so hostile.
He was very gracious and encouraged me to repost, mods would keep manage tone of any follow-up comments. But like... Less than 90 minutes for that to get out of hand? I hadn't even had the chance to go back and check on it 😂
I guess I'm frustrated because the Reformed community prides itself on doctrine and sound theology, and if we're so sure we've done our research, we shouldn't be anxious to the point of hostility when our perspectives are challenged.
And our doctrine more than most should have us always in a humbled state of understanding that MAN IS FALLIBLE AND MAKETH MISTAKES. So really, we should be open to having our understanding sharpened, holding every thought (not just the ones we like/were raised with) held captive.
And if it's true that the cries of women in the church (that we need theology and a place in the body of Christ that is not only wife/mother but also sister/co-heir) turn out to not be biblical (...) then the truth should make us more patient, more gracious, able to speak in love
