the mystics cut shey peddy to open up roster space to sign stella johnson for the season, planned to re-sign her when she cleared waivers. she knew that. she did clear waivers. but phoenix offered a 7-day contract, and she decided to go with them over the mystics.

of course, stella ended up getting injured and was barely able to play for the mystics at all. and shey -- who probably wouldn't be close to the wnba right now if not for mike thibault -- ends up eliminating the mystics from the playoffs.

this sport is beautiful and it is cruel.
