🎃[Theatrical Trailer]🎃
According to this film, all the Halloween movies after 'Halloween II' (1981) never took place. The producers decided to concentrate on Laurie's character instead of trying to tie up the plot points from Halloween 4-6.
Jamie Lee Curtis first worked with director Steve Miner on Forever Young (1992), which was J.J. Abrams' first produced script. She approached the Friday the 13th: Part 2 (1981) director about tackling this film after Carpenter walked away from the project.
Director Steve Miner, also directed two films in another popular horror series: Friday the 13th Part 2 (1981) and Friday the 13th Part III (1982).

A subplot involving two detectives (one male, one female) tracking Michael for the murder of Nurse Stephens was cut from the script. Remnants of the characters remain at the start of the picture, when two random detectives are talking in the home office of Stephens's home.

🎃[Opening Scene]🎃
In the opening credits, we see the name "Jimmy" & the name of Joseph Gordon-Levitt, the actor playing Jimmy. Jimmy was killed even before the opening credits began.

This was Joesph Gordon-Levitt debut film & has become a very well known actor now.
Marion Whittington was originally supposed to survive in the pre-credits sequence, and Ronny was to die. However, sensing audience appeal toward the latter character, the situation was switched and Marion was killed off. This was not received well by fans worldwide.
The newspaper clippings in the beginning were meant to be the only link to Halloween's 4-6. The clippings would have included clues such as "Mysterious cult kept murders hushed up in Haddonfield" and "Jaime Lloyd missing", with dates such as 1995 and 1989.
Jamie Lee Curtis wanted Laurie’s character to be ‘unhinged’. They felt that would be too much & that Laurie has enough to lose since she’s a mom & runs a school.

I suppose you can say she got her wishes with Halloween (2018).

(Not complaining in the slightest!)
If i’m not mistaken @malfuncsean asks if they gave any thought to who John’s father was, but the makers of the film say it doesn’t matter.

Sean, can you give us any clarification for this? 🎃

🎃[Behind The Scenes Clip]🎃
Curtis recalls lobbying for a brief scene where her character gets out of a car and does a double take as Mike Myers (Shrek, 2001) walks by, but the actor “shut us down.”
In the original, When Laurie is in class we hear the teacher talking about fate. While Laurie is teaching, Molly gives an answer about fate. Molly also spots Michael outside the school and gets interrupted & when she looks again he is gone, just like Laurie did in 1978. 🎃
Daniel Farrands, who wrote an early draft of the film, said there was originally a scene scripted & filmed where a student in Laurie's class does a report on a book called "The Halloween Murders", in an effort to tie all the movies together. This was sadly scrapped & unseen. 👀
In the scene where Janet Leigh's character speaks to Laurie, she says "If I may offer some maternal advice..." Laurie is played by Jamie Lee Curtis, Janet Leigh's daughter.
ALSO- During the scene where Norma is leaving, she stands in front the same car used in Psycho in 1960. Janet Leigh, who plays Norma, played Marion in Psycho. The music playing in the background at this part is also from Psycho.

Peep the license plates as well. 🔪
The school buses used to show how all of the school’s students are leaving for a break were picked up by the studio on the cheap and didn’t come with seats. 🎃
Halloween: H20 is the only Michael Myers film from the Halloween series not set in Haddonfield. 🔪
On the television in the girls' room, a clip from Scream 2 is showing, reciprocating numerous Halloween references and clips in the original Scream. Chris Durand had an uncredited role as a stunt double for the masked killer in 'Scream 2.’ 🔪

In 'H20', the killer originally wasn’t going to be Michael, but in fact a copycat killer, Charlie. The idea was dropped for HR which explained the reappearance of Michael Myers by revealing that he had traded places with a paramedic at the end of 'H20'. 🧐

🎃[Family Reunion Clip]🎃
When Laurie says, "go down the street to the Beckers," this was supposed to refer to the line from Halloween, "go down the street to the McKenzie's house." The name was changed to Becker, which was the last name of Drew Barrymore's character in 'Scream' (1996). 🔪
Chris Durand revealed: "It's not a CGI mask. That was the original mask that they were trying to dirty up to make it look like the Winston mask we ended up with, and they did a little bit of an alteration in CGI to it. And that's what everybody calls the CGI mask. 🎃
Curtis' stunt double broke her foot during the scene where they're driving the car and have to stop to open the gate. She slammed on the brakes and "the anti-lock brakes pushed back on her." 🎃
There was at one time a plan for Michael Myers to speak a single line at the end of the movie. He was to have said "Laurie" just before being beheaded by Jamie Lee Curtis. This idea was dropped from the final script. 🪓
Curtis knew that she would be killing an innocent man, but Laurie didn’t. It was part of her deal in returning. There could be no hint of it in the film itself leaving audiences to believe that this was the end. Per the deal, she would return for a cameo in HR, & be killed. 😒
4 completely different masks are used throughout the movie. The first one resembled Halloween 6. However, producers were not satisfied so they called in Greg Nicotero & had him make a new one & filming resumed. That mask was replaced by as well. Can’t forget the awful CGI one.
Here’s a Halloween: H20 Mask screen test. 🎃
“H20 started out with best intentions, but it ended up being a money gig. The film had some good things in it. It talked about alcoholism and trauma, but I ended up really doing it for the paycheck.” -Jamie Lee Curtis 🔪
One month after the film was released, Jamie Lee Curtis got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. 🎃
