Nigel Te Hiko, who died yesterday, was a good friend. I worked with him for 4 years at Raukawa. He helped me massively on my journey to begin understanding te ao Māori. He willingly and politely answered my dumb questions, he was a strong believer in using technology 1/2
In different ways to help document and promote Māori culture, knowledge and language. He cared for his whānau and iwi. He loved his NZ Warriors. His was a kind and generous man. The country, and the world, are a poorer place without him. Rest easy Nigel. 2/2
In 2018 Nigel and Phyllis from Raukawa organised two full day bus tours of 4 sites where Raukawa tūpuna had fought during the New Zealand Wars. Here he talks about his connection to Ō-Rākau connection https://www.facebook.com/raukawacharitable/videos/318250318957726/?t=145
