“It’s going to disappear, George,” Trump says of coronavirus. Then adds: “I’m pushing for Big Ten” — alluding to his push for college football conferences to restart games.
Trump says the nation will “develop a herd mentality” even without a vaccines. Assuming he means “herd immunity.” (Without a vaccine would mean a lot more deaths.)
Trump said police face hostilities and cites NYC police having water dumped on their heads by people who “had no fear.” “There was no retribution,” Trump says. Those police “should have really turned around and done something.”
Trump is so used to selling and pumping things up that his diction defaults to superlatives even when he’s trying to attack someone. “It was phenomenal. It was record-setting,” he says of income inequality under Obama-Biden administration.
Stephanopoulus cuts Trump off: “Why do you keep saying Democrat states and Democrat cities? They’re American states and American cities.”
Stephanopoulos calls Trump out: “I interviewed you in June and you said a health care plan was coming in two weeks.”
Man in audience who voted for him in 2016: “What would you do differently ... to create a more unified message?”
Trump: “I’m fighting a battle, it’s a big battlefield, and I have a lot of forces against me. I have the media, which I call the fake news.”
