I want to tell y'all how this came about.
Late last year I got linked to this fundraiser, and started donating small amounts every paycheck in honor of Lou Swain, @Honest_Lewis ' deceased mother and my dearly missed friend.

Lou lived an amazing life of service. Like me, she worked with victims of domestic violence, fiercely advocating for them, and she cared deeply about others every day of her life. This is her.

I went to donate on Valentine's Day of this year, as a special holiday remembrance, and had the idea to tweet about it as a nice thing people could do to honor their loved ones...and people did. So I started tweeting about it when I donated, and people followed suit.

That got us to nearly $630,000 debt forgiven when, on September 15, I realized that just $50 per day would forgive all the debt by next Valentine's Day. I started tweeting every day, and so many of you retweeted and donated that you raised nearly $9,000 in 23 days.

Lou's husband sends his thanks. Her daughter sends her thanks. Honest sends his thanks. And I thank all of you from the bottom of my heart for throwing yourselves behind this initiative and helping give this gift to the rural poor, the people Lou always rallied behind.

She was a great gift to all that knew her, and I know that she is proud of me for my life of service, and I know she would be proud of all of you and probably try to feed you, if she still could. Thank you for helping me honor her life, to everyone who helped.
