// haikyuu stuff hehe a thread
also manga spoilers

so. why didn't haikyuu stop after hinata graduated? or even when he went to Brazil? (my memory is foggy) or why did haikyuu go in the direction it did and what sets it apart from other sports manga? WELL-
I think it has to do with the way it portrays winning. probably one of the most famous losses was when karasuno beat seijoh. I think in hq the losses are more personal, and hold more weight. the way oikawa was written I think really contributed to the impact his team losing to t-
*made (what) the viewer feel. I also think winning wasn't exactly the entire point. oikawa didn't want to win to make it to the next round, but to establish himself as better then kageyama. if we fast forward to when oikawa plays for argentina (am I remembering this right help)-
and is against hinata and kageyama, it's not really said who won. It could've been implied but of course they hit ya with the "today I'm going to win" line. and I don't think there was even any scores shown. ending like that still made the series feel complete to me.
if it were almost any other series, people would've been infuriated. I think it worked for hq bc it shows the characters, even ones on teams like shiratorizawa and inarizaki as more then just opponents the protag and his friends need to beat, especially after the time skip
I think if the story just ended when hinata graduated it would feel like it cut off prematurely. hinata doesn't start off great and end great either. hes (imo) aware of how much he has to work and will do anything to achieve what he wants even if hes selfish, which he is but tha-
-ts for a diff time..of course every series has obstacles for the mc but not really on the scale that I see in hq. if we take away all the struggles hinata had we would have such a different story. in the beginning when his friends in middle school didn't try as hard, imagine
if they did. even if they were all beginners I think that would've taken away from him as a character, he would leave more to his team then taking every chance he gets to do something useful even if he isn't hitting the ball
I don't want to say too much so I'll stop here but there's so much to each character that almost every other sports manga I've seen misses. like tanaka and kenma for example, I havnt seen a character like tanaka. he KNOWS he's average and isn't the best but
instead of taking it out he uses that feeling to support his team if that makes sense. and kenma is always torn down to be the soft gamer but that's literally not him at all ANYWAYS idk why I did this...thread over go read the manga it's better then the anime ❤️
