OK, let& #39;s take a step back and appreciate what happened today, and let& #39;s look at the incredibly ballsy women of @thecurrent (and a few male allies) who risked their jobs today to tweet their support for women who are victims and the reporter who wanted to tell their story.
That just does not f& #39;ing happen in this business. Ever. The MPR management was looking at a staff revolt today and it had no choice in the face of that courage.
And this started with @SlingshotAnnie & #39;s indictment this summer of "news ethics" (spit) in its current form which enables the victimization of women, which -- and god only knows why this is -- nobody jumped at as the perfect talk show topic.
And then we have @MarianneSCombs, for example, one of the most level-headed members of MPR News who committed career suicide. And that STILL wasn& #39;t enough to get the men in MPR management to pay attention. And then those wonderful hosts at @thecurrent rolled the dice.
As I spent way too much time saying yesterday, there& #39;s a systemic problem at MPR. Today got their attention but, honestly, after all of the #MeToo https://abs.twimg.com/hashflags... draggable="false" alt=""> coverage, to have a public radio NEWS operation be so clumsy in handling this, well, I& #39;m not hopeful.
