A thread

The first photo was taken 5 years ago by @magnuswennman. Lamar, a five year old Iraqi refugee, sleeps in the forest on the border between Serbia and Hungary. Hungary had just closed its border and thousands of refugees trying to reach northern Europe were stopped.

The second photo was taken 3 days ago by Salam Aldeen after #CampMoria, Europe's largest refugee camp, burned to the ground. About 4,000 children, including hundreds of infants, and 8,000 adults have been stranded without shelter or sanitation on the island of Lesvos.

It's heartbreaking to see how little has changed in the past five years. But I will not lose hope. I cannot lose hope. These innocent, resilient people deserve more. I will continue to help in whatever way I can and I'm asking you do the same.

The situation on the ground is changing daily as conditions worsen for families who have lost everything.

We are now in desperate need of blankets, food, tents, & hygiene kits. $25 can support a family with what they need per day & $150 can support them for the week.
