I had an appointment with a new doctor today. She asked my gender and pronouns. She made sure I’d talked to someone at some point about my history of disordered eating. She made sure I knew that she believed movement should be pleasurable.
It was telehealth so no expectation of weighing me - but also no talk about my weight given my very visible fatness. We talked about my bum knee and maintaining that recovery instead, along with reasonable expectations. We’ll do bloodwork next and see what comes of it.
Is this what thin people experience at the doctor? The sense that a medical professional actually cares about your health and your experiences? This is a wild ride already.
