Schedule 7 of the Terrorism Act 2000 - What is it, what to expect & what you can do:

Schedule 7 is to put it simply, powers given to the Tpolice to stop, search, question & detain a person. You don’t need to be a terrorist to be put through this, you just need to be Muslim/Brown

There’s no need for suspicion, this Act they mainly use on you if they see that you are brown/outwardly muslim (beard etc). It is quite unnecessary & demeaning and there should be more done about it for it to be stopped tbh. Once taken to the interview room, be prepared for qs -

that are insulting, quite ridiculous and stupid. Qs on why you’re travelling/travelled, what for, qs about ur family, beliefs basically ur whole life lol. You can be held for upto 6 hours, they don’t care if you miss your flight. They will take your phone(s) without permission -

this power allows them to go through it, they don’t care about your privacy or your partners’ so obviously if you have private pictures, they will see, & will download all the conversations (everything) and keep. Ik most people would find this to be a huge invasion of privacy

they will collect your DNA & fingerprints you’ll be having a photoshoot even if you’re not a terrorist, they will treat you abit like one minus the torture. That’s the main reason it should be abolished. Muslims/Brown people are treated like a suspect community -

Can be quite an ordeal for those who go through it, many will probably break (emotionally) during or after this but hey they give you a free £5 sandwich meal. For anyone who cares about Human rights, data protection, this is a problem so try bring a change

Advice: Stay calm, clear headed, relax. While it may be a stressful day, it’ll pass - just know your rights because in this situation you don’t have many (even if you’ve never been in any trouble before). They don’t have to give you the right to a lawyer and lawyers will say to -

just do what they say otherwise you will be arrested under the Terrorism Act so this way you can become a Terrorist quite easily. You have to answer all the questions and cooperate otherwise even then they can & will arrest you. You can’t really say ‘no comment’ even if you’re -

not in the mood for the crap they give you. So answer, stay relaxed

Note: -They can’t tell you to remove hijab/strip
- They can go through your phone - your pictures, messages etc but not apps so you lock the app if you can
- Store your personal pictures elsewhere (Cloud mayb)

as they’re not allowed to access that or just don’t keep revealing pictures of your spouse

Ways we can try & get this power abolished is make people aware and complain about to the authorities/petition and make them change this or if we have a lot of people not complying but-

I highly doubt you want to have the terrorist label on you for the rest of your life simply for understandably being annoyed and afraid for your spouses privacy. Make this known & support CAGE for their work on this, ty
